Nichkhun Look-a-like Cast in Jang Geun Suk & YoonA’s “Love Rain”

Musical actor/pianist Shin Ji Ho has been cast in currently airing KBS “Love Rain,” starring Jang Geun Suk and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA. Well-known for resembling 2PM’s Nichkhun, Shin Ji Ho has been selected to play the role of In Sung, a music student who works part-time as a pianist at the café in the same building as Seo Joon’s (Jang Geun Suk) studio. In Sung is one of those characters who says everything on his mind. He’s slightly cheeky, yet irresistible. He will make his grand appearance on the sixth episode, scheduled to air tomorrow night, April 10.

PD Yoon Suk Ho had the opportunity to watch Shin Ji Ho perform last year and was captivated instantly. The director remembered the young star and altered In Sung’s role so that it fit with Shin Ji Ho.

Shin Ji Ho first gained recognition for his role in “Moby Dick the Musical.”

Meanwhile, “Love Rain” will air its fifth episode tonight, April 9, at 9:55PM KST. Check out the video preview with subs for tonight’s episode here!

‘Light and Shadow’, ‘Fashion King’, and ‘Love Rain’ compete for viewer ratings

Last time, we reported that KBS‘s ‘Love Rain‘ which stars actor Jang Geun Suk and Girls’ Generation‘s YoonA scored a surprisingly low viewer rating of 5.8% on its first episode. Unfortunately, the second episode received even lower ratings.

On March 28th, AGB Nielsen announced that TV ratings for Love Rain’s second episode dropped to 5.2%, which is 0.6% lower than ratings for its first episode.

However, other competitors in the same time slot faired better. MBC‘s ‘Light and Shadow‘ drew in the most ratings of 23.2%, while SBS‘s ‘Fashion King‘ saw their ratings rise o.4% from its previous episode and scored 9.6%.

As mentioned before, the cause behind Love Rain’s low ratings is perceived to be its slow paced story line, and the old fashioned plot that doesn’t seem to be satisfying the demands of contemporary viewers despite the hype behind the drama. However, it is expected to gain much success once it airs over in Japan as Jang Geun Suk’s popularity seems to be higher there.

Jang Geun Suk’s unit group ‘TEAM H’ ranks high on the Oricon chart

Jang Geun Suk‘s unit group ‘TEAM H‘ has secured the #3 spot on the Oricon chart in Japan.

According to leading Japanese music site Oricon Style, TEAM H’s new album ‘Lounge H The First Impression‘ has sold over 30,000 copies the first week, rising to the #3 spot on the Oricon.

TEAM H previoulsy performed at Jang Geun Suk’s arena tour as well as at his Tokyo Dome concert, and piqued fans’ interest at his fan meet that also took place in Tokyo.

Ahead of it’s official March 21st release, ‘Lounge H The First Impression’ was the #1 most pre-sold album at the time, drawing local fans’ interest after being promoted in TV and newspaper ads, club promotions, and more.

Jang Geun Suk to go on another Asia tour this summer

Actor Jang Geun Suk will be embarking on another world tour this summer to captivate Asia once more!

Starting in July, he’ll be taking off in Seoul to travel around Asia through Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and other locations for his ‘The Cri Show 2‘. Last year, he visited Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China, so he’s ready to upgrade things up a bit the second time around.

Ahead of his tour, he’ll be releasing his first Japanese studio album, “Just Crazy“, on May 30th. Containing a total of 11 tracks, the album will be released in three versions in limited, standard, and fanclub copies.

Ji Sung Surprises Jang Geun Suk with Food Truck on “Love Rain” Filming Set

Ji Sung surprised cast and crew members of KBS “Love Rain” with a food truck on March 29. He visited the filming set of “Love Rain” to cheer for his dear friend Jang Geun Suk. He brought a food truck worth of 100 servings with him for everyone. Previously, Jang Geun Suk visited Ji Sung on the filming set of “Protect the Boss” with fried chicken for cast and crew members.

Even Jang Geun Suk was not expecting Ji Sung’s surprise visit. Jang Geun Suk welcomed Ji Sung wholeheartedly and spared some time from busy filming schedule to sit down and have a meal together. Ji Sung and his food truck’s surprise visit cheered all cast and crew members up in the midst of their busy and hectic filming schedule.

A crew member commented, “Everyone was really surprised by Ji Sung’s visit. He came out all the way here to the filming set. We are all really thankful for his generosity. It was such a heart-warming gift. ”

Girls’ Generation YoonA’s “Love Rain” Rating Continues to Drop

Despite high hopes from both producers and fans, KBS’s newest series “Love Rain,” starring Jang Geun Suk and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, isn’t doing so well with its domestic audience. On March 26, “Love Rain” premiered to low ratings, with only 5.8% (AGB Nielsen). Ratings dropped even further last night, recording 5.2%.

Many critics and netizens began criticizing the producers for focusing too much on selling the series abroad through hallyu actors rather than creating a well-made drama with a strong plot.

Meanwhile, MBC’s “Light and Shadow” recorded its personal high with 23.2%. SBS’s “Fashion King” also saw a slight increase in ratings, achieving 9.6%.
