SHINee is introduced on French TV

Hallyu continues to gather more and more popularity on the world stage, and it has just added to its list of accomplishments through popular group SHINee, who was recently featured on a famous French show.

On March 27th, French channel CANAL plus‘s ‘Le Petit Journal‘ featured a news segment in which a clip of SHINee’s “Sherlock” was played.

On this broadcast, host Yann Barthes introduced SHINee as a forerunner in the worldwide K-pop boom and played the music video for “Sherlock” with translated lyrics. He even talked about the fan favorite dance moves that SHINee showcases during the chorus.

“Sherlock” was introduced alongside LMFAO‘s “Live My Life” music video. Barthes even asked the guest star, a French presidential candidate named Jacques Cheminade, “Which of the two songs would you choose?

‘Le Petit Journal’ is a popular French talk show that is broadcast every day of the week except Saturdays, and has in the past featured guests such as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and legendary rock group Metallica.

In related news, SHINee won #1 the March 29th broadcast of Mnet‘s M! Countdown with “Sherlock”.

SM, YG, & JYP Entertainments to closely mentor their ‘K-POP Star’ contestants

On the March 25th live broadcast of the show,’K-Pop Star‘, the finalists who made it to the Top 6 were cast between the 3 agencies (SM, YG, JYP), with 2 finalists being cast to each agency. This marked the official start of the ‘Winner Debut Project,’ and each of the finalists will receive special training at their respective agencies in order to survive to the TOP 5, which will be broadcasted live on April 1st.

J.Y. Park, in addition to judging on the show, will personally be the producer for his 2 finalists at JYP. His finalists not only received help from some of the best experts in the industry, but also from the Wonder Girls, who have been very active in the finalists’ trainings. The Wonder Girls were on set for the live broadcast on the 25th, and showed an unusual attachment to the finalists by passionately cheering them on.

Yenny and Yubin, in particular, surprised the staff for passionately giving the finalists endless ideas and advice, from song selection down to every little detail, almost as if they were preparing for their own stage. Yenny, as a senior in the industry, took care of the finalists and even paid attention to the finalists’ psychological well-being, while Yubin, who has had an interest in styling, actively helped the finalists out on that front.

The finalists at YG also have an impressive mentor in former 1TYM member Teddy, who will be producing for them. Teddy, who is responsible for composing, writing, arranging, and producing most of the songs sung by YG artists such as Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, and Gummy, is said to have worked his magic with YG’s finalists.

At SM, the fact that Kenzie, the hit-making producer who has worked with BoA, TVXQ, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, Super Junior, and f(x) will be working with the finalists, is heightening viewers’ anticipation.

The staff for ‘K-Pop Star’ revealed, “SM, YG, and JYP are giving their all in preparing the finalists for the next performance, as if they are preparing their own rookie singers for debut. The finalists, who have been receiving the best training available from the 3 agencies, will put on a show that can rival professional singers. We ask for your anticipation and cheers.”

SHINee members receive “senior” treatment from ‘Brave Rascals’ comedians

SHINee were caught off guard by “senior” treatment from the ‘Brave Rascals‘ team of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Gag Concert‘.

Comedian Park Sung Kwang posted on his Twitter March 30th KST, “At KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank’ bowing to seniors SHINee.” The ‘Brave Rascals’ have just begun promoting their own single “Wait and Prepare“, which technically makes them SHINee’s “juniors” in the music world. The comedy group visited SHINee backstage, and apparently, the SHINee boys weren’t exactly comfortable with the treatment as they responded quickly with their own bow. Member Onew seemed to find the situation funny as he raised his arms above his head, mimicking the pose made popular by the ‘Brave Rascals’ comedians.

Followers commented, “Onew’s variety skills shine here too. Adorable,” “SHINee members! They’re so personable,” and “It’s funny that the SHINee members are your seniors.”

The ‘Brave Rascals’ are officially promoting themselves as singers with their single “Wait and Prepare”, which was released on March 26th KST.

Shinhwa backstage at ‘M! Countdown’ + Update on Shin Hye Sung’s condition

Legendary idol group Shinhwa has finally concluded their preparations and will be coming back to the stage amongst young idols like Big Bang, 2AM, and SHINee.

The group will be performing on March 29th’s ‘M! Countdown‘, they’ve been posting pictures of themselves backstage through their official twitter.

Shinhwa will be performing their new title track “Venus“, and they plan to pull off a spectacular performance, showing the experiences they have gained throughout the fourteen years since their debut. However, Shin Hye Sung has recently hurt his knee on March 25th at their concert ‘The Return‘, and it is unsure if he can deliver a powerful performance on stage with his injury.

Shin Hye Sung’s primary physician said, “Surgery is urgent in order to prevent risks of attaining an even greater injury. Great caution should be taken for at least six month after the surgery.” But despite what his physician said, Shin Hye Sung confidently expressed that he will continue to perform by saying, “I cannot become a burden to Shinhwa’s activities.

Fans have been worried about Shin Hye Sung’s health, but they seem reassured after seeing him smiling brightly and looking quite dashing in his black suit in the backstage photos.

On another note, this broadcast of ‘M! Countdown’ will be packed with great performances by CN Blue, Busker Busker, NU’EST, BtoB, and Noh Young Ho from ‘Voice Korea’.

Minho talks about SHINee’s style

Having finally made their return after a year and six month long hiatus with their fourth mini-album, “Sherlock“, SHINee stopped to chat with reporters ahead of their comeback stage on KBS‘s ‘Music Bank‘.

The boys were asked what they thought differentiated “Sherlock” from their other albums, to which Minho replied, “There’s no clear distinction as to what exactly SHINee’s style is. Instead of being fixed on one style, SHINee always aims to show something new.”

He continued, “I think that’s why with every new album release, we focus more on how we can better express the song rather than what style to come out with next.”
