Jay Park reveals his height and drinking habits on ‘You and I’

Singer Jay Park, who recently released a song for the ‘Rooftop Prince‘ OST, guested on the April 1st episode of SBS‘s ‘You and I‘.

MC’s Lee Hyori and Jung Jae Hyung began by questioning the singer if he had any complex. The singer answered, “The complex I have is my height and my pointy ears.

Jay Park then honestly revealed his true height to be 170cm, and also revealed the reason to why he does not wear insoles to add to his height. “If I add height insoles in my shoes, I can’t seem to dance as well. Plus, everybody knows that I’m short so it doesn’t matter if I add the insoles or not.”

When asked how he relieves stress, Jay responded, “I either dance or drink alcohol.” The MCs then quickly asked if he has any drinking habits to which he replied, “When I’m drunk, I’m unable to reject a person and I tend to become very friendly.”

Kim Tae Won surprises Jay Park with question about 2PM

Boohwal’s Kim Tae Won recently asked Jay Park a question regarding 2PM, the former group that the idol was once a part of.

On the latest episode of ‘Beatles Code 2′, Kim asked Jay if he was “still in 2PM”, and if he was “still under the agency”. As most already know, Jay left 2PM in 2009 due to a controversy that created much media blitz within the industry. However, Kim Tae Won truly seemed to have been in the dark about the issue.

Jay responded calmly to the sudden question, stating that he was no longer part of the group. To the shock of everyone, Kim then asked Jay the reason behind his decision to part ways with the agency.

To the unexpected question, the MCs and other guests asked why Kim would ask the question. Kim responded, “I thought Jay might be nervous,” expressing that he was just trying to loosen up the atmosphere, and seemed unaware of the situation that had taken place a few years back.

However, Jay offered an answer to Kim’s question, stating,“A lot of things happened back then.. And here I am now as a solo artist.” He then continued, stating that while being a solo artist is hard work, he is happy that he can “have creative control over [his] music.”

Kim asked, “Was that hard to do in a group?” and Jay responded, “Because it’s a team. I can’t be selfish.”

Kim Tae Won Asks Jay Park, “Aren’t You Part of 2PM?”

Conversation: SOOMPI

On yesterday’s episode of MnetThe Beatles Code 2,” MC Kim Tae Won mistakenly asked Jay Park if he was part of 2PM, surprising everyone at the studio.

During the episode, he asked, “Aren’t you 2PM? Aren’t you part of the group?” Jay Park used to be the leader of 2PM, but left the group in 2009 due to controversy surrounding a post he made on his myspace account several years back.

Jay Park politely stated he was not, and Kim Tae Won further unnerved other guests and MCs by asking why not. Fellow MCs started to voice their complaints as Kim Tae Won treaded on the sensitive topic. Kim Tae Won replied, “I’m just trying to make him [Jay Park] less nervous.” However, Jay Park honestly responded, “Many things happened back then, and so I work alone now. Working solo, instead of being part of a group, has its advantages because I get to make music that I want to try.”

Girl who rejected Jay Park’s marriage offer finally cuts her hair

Remember the girl who rejected Jay Park, when he offered to marry her if she gets her hair cut? (See previous article here.) Well, her and her two sisters have recently undergone a 180 degree transformation after much hesitation!

The three sisters previously appeared on the February 27th episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘National Talk Show Hello‘, after their father requested to participate in the program in concern for his three daughters, who have never cut their hair since they were born. If you combined the lengths of their hair, the total length came out to be a bit over 16 feet long!

As the three have grown in fame, they again appeared on a recent broadcast of KBS 2TV’s ‘YeoYooManMan‘ and explained the downsides of having long hair. They revealed, “It takes us at least 30 minutes to wash our hair and when we go to public baths, everybody stares at us.

In addition, the three sisters were in great shock after their latest visit to the hospital for a check-up. It turns out that having such long hair could lead to neck and back issues as they get older. As a result, the sisters decided to cut their hair and made their way to the hair salon.

The youngest was the first to have her hair cut but before the grand moment, the girl confidently commented, “I’m gonna have to have it cut sooner or later. It’s better just doing it this way.” However, as soon as the hairstylist began, the girl burst into tears, followed by her family and her two sisters watching from behind.

Once it was all over, the sisters remarked, “I want to buy a curling iron,” and “I’ve always wanted to wash my hair facing down.” The youngest sister seemed to be most satisfied with her new hairstyle saying, “I really like this hairstyle. I’ll never grow out my hair ever again.

Unfortunately her other sisters didn’t seem to agree, as they said that they would like to grow out their hair once again.

What do you guys think of their new look?

SPIN Magazine talks about Jay Park’s rise and how he’s the ‘New Breed’ of K-Pop R&B

On March 9th (which happens to be the 15th anniversary of Notorious B.I.G.’s death – RIP), American music magazine ‘SPIN‘ released an online publication article on Jay Park.

The article chronicles Jay’s long journey to his current position as the Face of a ‘New Breed’ of K-Pop R&B. It talks about Jay’s humble beginnings as a trainee, his controversial Myspace comments, his return to glory and Jeremy Lin.

You can read the full article here.

Some excerpts from the article:

I got off the plane, and there was a different scent in the air.” That’s how Jay Park remembers his first seconds in Seoul, in January of 2005, just months before he graduated from high school back home in suburban Seattle. Park had been flown over to begin training for JYP Entertainment, one of three major entertainment companies headquartered in the South Korean capital…

I express myself a lot more on the rest of the album.” Upon its release, New Breedfound its way atop several iTunes R&B charts, including here in the United States, a market most K-pop groups, Park included, currently covet. And though he points to Drake and even Chris Brown as American pop cultural benchmarks (both of whom he says he’d like to one day reference in a mixtape for the American market), Park has found inspiration in the NBA. “Jeremy Lin is crazy,” he says of the recently meme-i-fied, Taiwanese-American, New York Knicks point guard. “He was off the radar and now he’s playing with the best of the best. People can’t hate on him even though they want to because he’s so good. That’s how a K-pop star has to be over in America if they want to succeed. They have to be so good in every single way that even if people hate, they can’t really say anything. I don’t dwell. If I’m not dead, there’s still other things to do.”
